National Non-Profit Day
National Nonprofit Day, established in 2017, coincides with the date of the signing of the Tariff Act of 1894, which authorized exemptions for nonprofit corporations and charitable institutions. It is a day to celebrate and give your support to your favorite non-profit organizations. Some to consider might include Greater Evansville Youth (powered by IYG), Matthew 25, Albion Fellows Bacon Center, Holly’s House, and of course River City Pride!

National Hispanic Heritage Month
Hispanic Heritage Month, celebrated from September 15th to October 15th, honors the history, culture, and contributions of Hispanic and Latino Americans. It highlights the achievements of individuals from countries such as Mexico, Puerto Rico, Cuba, and many others, while celebrating the diverse traditions and rich cultural heritage of these communities.

Celebrate Bisexuality Day
Celebrate Bisexuality Day recognizes and honors bisexual individuals—those attracted to more than one gender. The day aims to raise awareness about bisexuality, challenge misconceptions, and promote visibility and inclusion within the LGBTQIA+ community.

National Coming Out Day
National Coming Out Day celebrates the LGBTQ+ community and encourages individuals to come out and live authentically. The day raises awareness about the challenges of coming out, while promoting acceptance and support for those who choose to share their sexual orientation or gender identity with others.

International Pronouns Day
International Pronouns Day, observed on the third Wednesday of October, aims to raise awareness about the importance of respecting and using individuals' correct pronouns. The day encourages people to share their pronouns and be mindful of others, fostering an inclusive and respectful environment for people of all gender identities.

River City Pride Rainbow Run
This vibrant, inclusive event will feature food trucks and a colorful race. The event will be a signature moment in our city’s commitment to inclusivity, diversity, and pride in 2025! Similar to the Color Run- color chalk powder of many shades of the rainbow will be thrown and used to decorate the participants. All are welcome to join us and have a fun enjoyable day with the community!
The event will be a lap-based walk/run ranging from under a mile to over 5K to maintain inclusivity and support all who wish to attend be welcome and celebrated.

Intersex Awareness Day
Intersex Awareness Day raises awareness about intersex people—those born with natural variations in sex characteristics that don't fit typical male or female classifications. The day advocates for their rights, challenges harmful practices, and promotes visibility and acceptance.

Transgender Day of Remembrance
Transgender Day of Remembrance is a deeply emotional day to honor transgender individuals lost to violence and hate. It serves as a time to reflect on the struggles the transgender community faces, while reinforcing our commitment to building a world where transgender people can live safely, authentically, and without fear.

World AIDS Day
World AIDS Day is a day to remember those lost to HIV/AIDS, support those living with the virus, and raise awareness about prevention and treatment. It’s a day to reflect on the ongoing fight against the disease, while honoring the strength and resilience of those affected by it.

Pansexual/Panromantic Pride Day
Pansexual/Panromantic Pride Day honors the pansexual and panromantic communities—those who experience attraction to people regardless of gender. The day celebrates the pride about the unique experiences of pan individuals and celebrates their identities.

International Drag Day
International Drag Day honors the art of drag and the performers who bring it to life. The day highlights the contributions of drag queens, kings, and gender non-conforming performers to LGBTQIA+ culture, while promoting visibility, acceptance, and creative expression within the community.

International Non-binary People's Day
Non-Binary People’s Day, celebrated on July 14th, honors and raises awareness about non-binary individuals—those whose gender identity doesn’t fit within male or female categories. The day promotes visibility, inclusion, and understanding, highlighting the challenges non-binary people face and advocating for gender diversity and equality.

Stonewall Riots
The Stonewall Riots were a series of spontaneous demonstrations by members of the LGBTQIA+ community in response to a police raid that took place at the Stonewall Inn in New York City in June 1969. These riots are widely considered a catalyst for the modern LGBTQIA+ rights movement in the United States.

US Supreme Court Oberfell V. Hodges Anniversary
On June 26, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Obergefell v. Hodges that same-sex marriage is a constitutional right under the 14th Amendment. The Court’s 5-4 decision legalized same-sex marriage nationwide, declaring that states must issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples and recognize marriages performed in other states. This ruling was a historic victory for LGBTQIA+ rights, affirming the equality of same-sex couples under the law.

Pride Pickleball

US Supreme Court Bostock V. Clayton County Anniversary
On June 15, 2020, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in Bostock v. Clayton County that discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. The Court’s 6-3 decision extended protections against workplace discrimination to LGBTQIA+ individuals, marking a historic victory for LGBTQIA+ rights.

Please join us at McCollough Library for a FREE Medical Power of Attorney workshop. River City Pride will provide the forms, witnesses, and notaries at no charge. This event is for anyone to attend; everyone can use extra protection to ensure their partners and designated people in their lives can make decisions for them if incapacitated.

Lesbian Visibility Day, celebrated on April 26th, highlights and honors the experiences and contributions of lesbian women.

Pride In Every Drop - Blood Drive
Out for blood… in a good way! Come to the event and GET SUCKED!
In 1983, FDA issued guidelines that recommended that sexually active gay and bisexual men with multiple partners should not donate blood.
In 1986, the FDA issued federal regulations that banned all gay men from donating blood.
On August 7th 2023, the FDA and American Red Cross changed their guidelines that once restricted the LGBTQIA+ community from donating to now welcoming the community to giving blood in support of their fellow humans.
For the first time in Evansville, on April 18th, 2025, River City Pride will be partnering with the American Red Cross to host the first LGBTQIA+ Blood Drive. Proving that our community DOES show up and will support our neighbors, our loved ones, and those in need.
